We Keep Talking About Hair Goals– But What Should They Be?

BY Laura Casciola

Ah, goals. You probably have some personal goals that you set for yourself for the season, the new year, or some random burst of motivation. Your job might be asking you to set career goals to track towards. You go on social media and see #relationshipgoals all over the place (ugh). But…what about your hair goals?

If you’ve been following Function for any period of time, you know we love to talk about ‘hair goals’. Our thinking is, “how can someone actively treat their hair if they don’t know what they want to achieve?” And that’s really all that ‘hair goals’ are– the things that you, specifically, want to see in your hair. It’s different for every person and even every hair type. You might LOVE your voluminous hair, while the person next to you is always trying to straighten it flatter down. That’s why, no matter your hair type and texture, we ask that you choose your goals yourself. I mean, we don’t know what you want– we just met!

What we can do with our expertise, however, is guide you toward some hair goals and ingredients that make sense for your hair type, for inspiration. Find your hair type from the list below, and check out some of our most popular hair goals for it, specifically.
