Your March (Hair)oscopes Are Here!

BY Veronica McCarthy

Do you follow your monthly horoscope? Do you enjoy talking about all things hair care-related? Yes? Then you’re going to love our monthly (hair)oscopes! At the beginning of each month, our resident hairstylist/astrologer Dylan Chavles will look to the cosmos to reveal what the month has in store for both you and your hair. See what lies ahead for your love life, career, potential new haircut, and more below!

Aries

Hello Aries!  Happy early birthday to y’all born in March!  Mercury retrograde is still going strong until March 10th, and this retrograde in particular has asked you reevaluate your friend groups and what you decide to participate in.  On the 9th, we have a full moon taking place in your 6th house of work and health. This full moon will illuminate how you could take better care of yourself if you haven’t been!  You’ve been getting hints the past couple of weeks on where you’re slacking (i.e. drinking too much, eating garbage, or running yourself into the ground), and if you don’t start to reign in it now you’ll get a potentially unfriendly reminder to get you back on track.  On the 17th, we have a new moon in Aries kicking off your birthday season! This is a powerful time for you to manifest what you want the rest of your year to look like. I suggest writing down a couple goals you’d like to achieve by the end of the year, and fleshing out how you could reach them.  The new moon in Aries is fiery and proactive, however being thorough in accomplishing what you set out to do is very important. I suggest manifesting a customized shampoo and conditioner with all of the essential oils and vitamins your hair needs.

Taurus

Hello Taurus!  You’re almost done with Mercury retrograde, so let’s hold off on signing any important work documents until March 10th, as your retrograde takes place in the 10th house of authority and work.  This retrograde season has put a lot of focus on your work life, which can be draining and maybe a little uninspiring. Luckily, on March 9th, the full moon takes place in your 5th house of creativity!  This full moon will help pull you out of the work dregs and reconnect with your inner child. This means you’ll be asked to look at what makes your heart sing, and what makes you laugh. Figure out what makes you feel playful again, and understand that having fun is just as important as doing taxes.  On an exciting note, your ruler, Venus, comes back into your sign. This is great news for you, as your focus while Venus resides in your sign will be on self care and self love! No one has the capacity to take care of themselves better than you, and Venus wants you to feel like a million bucks. Since this placement is a perfect time for physical change, I’d treat yourself to that haircut you’ve always wanted and never had.

Gemini

Hello Geminis! March wants you to get esoteric! Your ruler Mercury is still retrograded until March 10th on your 9th house of travel and higher education, so hold off on booking any plane tickets until then if you can.  On a positive note, Mercury retrograde is a great time for reflection, and because your retrograde focuses on knowledge, this is a perfect time to revisit something you were studying. This could be anything from tarot to quantum physics, so knock yourself out and hit the cards and/or books!  On the 5th, Venus will enter your 12th house of spirituality. This transit is asking you to pay attention to your dreams (the ones that happen when you’re sleeping)! Everyone knows Geminis have the best new ideas, and this month the figurative lightbulb will turn on when you’re sleeping. I suggest keeping a dream journal during this time, because you might find a way to solve the climate crisis in your sleep.  We also have a full moon on March 9th in your 4th house of home. This full moon asks you to reflect on what makes you feel at home. I suggest focusing on the things and people in your life that make you feel grounded and safe, and maybe reconsidering the situations around you that make you feel like you need to pack up and leave! This full moon could also literally suggest a physical move to somewhere else. Are you sick of your apartment?  Maybe start to plan out how you can leave it in the future. Is your hairdresser boring you to death? Maybe find someone else to trust with your tresses!

Cancer

Hello my beautiful crabs!  Mercury retrograde is still going strong until March 10th, so hold off on signing anything that came in after the retrograde that started on February 17th.  Retrograde season is a great time to finalize projects, so you’re in the clear to finish anything that started before the retrograde happened.  On the 5th, Venus enters your 11th house of social groups, bringing in a new crop of inspiring people into your life. It’s very likely that you’ll make a connection with a new life long friend this month, so if you meet that person, make sure to force yourself to leave the couch to go spend time with them. Speaking of leaving the house, on March 9th, you have a full moon in your 3rd house of communication.  The full moon likes to draw out what you’ve been burying, and in this case were talking about your communication habits. Have you been a little hermetic lately? Now is a good time to reach out to those you love that you haven’t spoken to in a while. Everyone loves assurance, and a simple “thinking about you” text could go a long way. Maybe next time your hairdresser communicates that you need to stop washing you hair with all-in-one bar soap, you should listen and buy yourself a silicone-free shampoo and conditioner.  Baby steps.

Leo

My lovely Leos!  Don’t break up with your partner until after March 10th, as Mercury is still in retrograde in your 7th house of relationships.  Retrograde season is incredible for tying up any loose ends, but not for starting new projects to tackle. In your case, I would wait to have a serious conversation with your loved one if you need to have one, as you may not be able to hear them out properly, or even say what you really mean to say.  On March 9th, you have a full moon in your 2nd house of finances. This full moon wants to illuminate how you view money and how you use your resources. Have you been itching to open a savings account as boring as that sounds? Or are you considering investing in a creative endeavor? Either way, this full moon will make whatever you need to change financially very apparent.  Pay attention to any urges you have over the next 7 days and meet an intention around accomplishing the task that keeps rearing its head up during this time. If you’ve been craving stability (boring— but respect), Saturn enters your 7th house of relationships on March 22nd. Saturn is the disciplinarian, and he wants you to get serious about what you have romantically, or what you want romantically.  Maybe the only thing holding you back from finding true love is split ends, and in that case, I suggest a hair serum made with passion and never tested on animals.

Virgo

My diligent Virgos, your ruler Mercury is still in retrograde until March 10th.  Luckily for you, this takes place in your 6th house of work and service, making the retrograde’s “powers” the least effective against your unmatchable work ethic.  Just hold off on spearheading any new projects until March 10th, and take this time to finish the ones you have already started. On March 5th, Venus will enter your 9th house of travel and higher knowledge.  You love pining, so this is the perfect time to take a trip and fall in love with someone who lives far away from you. These kinds of connections help you exercise your need for control, and might even teach you how to relinquish it just a tad.  On March 24th, the new moon takes place in your 8th house. The 8th house rules sex, death, and other peoples money. In this case, the new moon will ask you to dig deep into a relationship, whether it be platonic or romantic. The new moon wants you to take your walls down and become vulnerable.  A good thing to keep in mind for your new moon this month is that you learn just as much from giving love as you do receiving love. Give yourself the gift of being understood and let someone in! You might get to know them so well that you make space for their own paraben-free hair mask in your shower caddy.

Libra

Hello to my social butterflies!  Allow yourself a little more time than usual to get ready, as Mercury is still in retrograde until March 10th.  On March 5th, your ruler Venus will enter your 8th house of sex, death, and other peoples money. This sounds scary (or exciting?), but Venus in this house suggests that it’s time for you to hunker down and get to know a certain someone on a more intimate level.  This could be deepening a relationship you already have, or maybe taking a flirtatious friendship to a sexier level. Either way, Venus wants you to deepen a relationship in March, and I can guarantee your gut knows exactly with whom. On March 9th, you have a full moon in your 12th house of esoterica and spirituality.  If you’ve been itching to start a practice of meditation or dream journaling, a few days before the full moon would be a perfect time to. The full moon in the 12th house really sets the mood for March by asking you to learn how to trust yourself and channel what you already know within. Your gut always knows what’s right for YOU.  The full moon wants you to have faith in what you already know, no matter how off the beaten path it may seem. With this in mind, if you really feel like your natural hair color doesn’t work for you anymore, I suggest finding a hair colorist that champions your wants and grants you your wildest hair color dreams.

Scorpio

Hello to my fellow Scorpios!  You might all get slapped in the face with a new relationship this month, as Venus enters your 7th house of relationships on March 5th.  Because Uranus is also currently in your 7th house, this relationship can feel like it came out of nowhere. Whether this connection is romantic or platonic, you’re going to meet someone you have a soulmate bond with. You’re not one for surface friendships, and we all know how rare it is to have an immediately comfortable time with someone, so make sure you hold onto this person for dear life when they make their way to you.  On March 9th, the full moon takes place in your 11th house of friendships and social circles. The full moon wants to shine a light on what doesn’t work anymore, and in this case it may be about friendships that are no longer healthy to partake in. This doesn’t mean you need to make any rash decisions, but maybe take note of the people you have in your millet who make you feel less-than or unfulfilled. A great practice on the night of the full moon would be to write down all the ways you want to be treated in a friendship, and the universe will do the rest of the work for you.  Don’t forget that your hair is your friend too, and you should definitely treat your tresses to a customized hair mask that YOU get to fine tune, don’t worry, the universe has absolutely nothing to do with this decision.

Sagittarius

Hello to my favorite truth seekers!  Sorry about it, but Mercury is still retrograded in your 3rd house of communications until March 10th.  Try not to pick any fights or sign any documents until then, you’ll thank me later. This month is about thinking outside of yourself!  If you’ve been considering a new career path or a new way to be of assistance, Venus will help you make that decision on March 5th when she enters your 6th house of work and service.  This transit will hold your hand through the anxiousness you’ve been feeling about how you contribute to yourself and those around you. When the opportunity arises for you to step up to the plate and serve someone that isn’t you, take it!  On March 9th, the full moon takes place in your 10th house of career. This full moon is begging you to reassess your line of work. It wants you to consider another means of income that isn’t just there to pay the bills, but also puts your soul at ease when you go home.  If this isn’t in the cards for you, manifest some opportunities by writing down a few ways you think you could help the world, and be conscious of what comes to mind for the two weeks after March 9th. In the meantime, make sure to tend to your split ends with a hair serum laden with beetroot seed extract. Nobody likes split ends, not even your favorite activist.

Capricorn

Hello to my beautiful Capricorns!  This month is all about romance and creativity for you!  Just make sure you dive in on March 10th when Mercury retrograde is over.  Venus enters your house of love and creativity on March 5th, potentially bringing a new lover in your life if you don’t have one already.  If you’re satisfied with the partner(s) you already have, Venus will show you new avenues to explore with these people. This placement also encourages taking some time off of the grind in your life to pursue the creative endeavors that bring you pure joy.  Venus wants you to take a day off (if you can afford to) this month to focus on something artistic you can bring into your day to day. That special time for yourself this month could be spent buying art supplies, sitting at the library, or something as simple as doodling in the park.  Regardless, you need to give yourself time to recharge in March so you don’t burn out. On the 24th, you have a new moon in your 4th house of home. This new moon is going to make you feel incredibly restless in your home. If you’re not planning on moving, you need to deep clean your place and throw away or donate anything you’ve wanted to get rid of!  If you are planning on moving but not sure where to go yet, I suggest making a list of 15 things you absolutely need in a home to help you find the place of your dreams. A few things I look for in an apartment are clean tile, crown molding, and a bathroom that compliments my cruelty-free shampoo, conditioner, and mask.

Aquarius

Hello Aquarians! Mercury is still in retrograde in your 1st house of self, so don’t make any rash decisions regarding your appearance until March 10th when retrograde season is over.  Venus is going to join Uranus in your 4th house of home on March 5th. This basically means you’re going to be irrationally rearranging furniture or figuring out a way to pack up and move.  If either of these ideas seem insane or unattainable, this transit could also suggest that you’re simply missing things that make you feel at home. This could be a best friend who’s moved away, or a Sunday morning routine you’ve been slacking on.  Regardless, Venus invites you to take some time this month to make your existence fuzzy and comforting again. On the 24th, you have an exciting new moon taking place in your 3rd house of communications. This is an incredible time for spending time dancing with friends or joining a book club.  The new moon wants you to find less conventional ways to spend time with friends and social groups. You love to challenge social norms, and March is a perfect month to find others who think that reading in a circle sexier than waiting in line to get into a club. On the 24th, I want you to write down 5 activities that you’d like to start partaking in, so when the opportunity arises you’re ready to jump on it.  One of the activities could be cutting your friend bangs based on a ridiculous Youtube tutorial, just make sure you have a patient hairdresser around the corner to fix your horrible mistake.

Pisces

Happy birthday to the only sign I will forgive for being an hour late to dinner! Especially during the Mercury retrograde that is holding on for dear life until March 10th!  The month kicks off with Venus entering your 3rd house of communication on March 5th. This placement will have you feeling way more outgoing and social than usual, so roll with it! You’re charming, persuasive, and a pleasure to be around, so make sure you make the most of your connections and friendships during this transit.  Venus is a comforting planet that shines a light ways to recharge your batteries, so make sure to take your friends up on all the plans they’re making this month. On March 9th, the full moon will take place in your house of relationships. The full moon likes to sweep up the dust from under the rug, and in this case it wants to clean out the aspects of your relationships (romantic or platonic) that aren’t working for you anymore.  Be extra aware of your loved one’s behavior that triggers anger or sadness, and find a way to communicate what’s not working for you anymore. On the night of the full moon, make a list of the ways you need to be treated by people, and keep an eye out for those who don’t meet your needs. Maybe you need a friend who understands the importance of hair care, and would be more than happy to buy you a customized deep conditioning mask for your birthday!
